I\ am\ not\ sure\ what\ prompted\ this\ cartoon,\ but\ it\ is\ long\ in\ coming.\ \ It's\ not\ entirely\ clear\ which\ of\ the\ many\ appropriate\ policies\ of\ the\ Bush\ administration\ this\ is\ referring\ to.\ \ It\ could\ have\ something\ to\ do\ with\ the\ fact\ that\ the\ administration\ is\ trying\ to\ terrify\ the\ public\ in\ to\ accepting\ more\ and\ more\ of\ \ its\ policies\ with\ overblown\ statements\ concerning\ possible\ terror\ threats.\ \ Not\ that\ the\ threats\ may\ not\ exist.\ \ They\ might.\ \ However,\ it\ would\ be\ more\ constructive\ if\ the\ administration\ tried\ to\ get\ the\ public\ to\ examine\ these\ threats\ more\ rationally\ rather\ than\ through\ a\ prism\ of\ panic.
UPDATE: One May 26th, it seems that this cartoon was removed by the New York Times editorial staff from their web site. Once again, it seems the New York Times is deciding to censor their editorial cartoons rather than letting their readers make up their own minds. It's a pattern that is being noticed more and more. Shame! We are all relieved that the New York Times thought this cartoon was as exceptional as we did. day=25 author=Jeff\ Danzinger id=1022355905202 year=2002 month=4
